A great game for the whole family!

Not all Maths contains numbers.  You can easily stretch your brain by making spacial connections quickly, running through perhaps dozens of options before you call out 'Set' in this fantastic card game that motivates students to keep perfecting their skill.

To play the game, you put 12 (or 15 or 16) cards face up on the table, and everyone playing looks for 'sets' or three cards in which each attribute is either completely the same (same colour, same shape, same number and/or same filling) or completely different.  In other words, you can't have two attributes the same with one different.

Have a look at the cards I randomly dealt to take a photo of.  Can you find any sets?

If it seems too tricky, look again.  Can you find a set where each card is red and oval, but the numbers and fillings are different?  If so, well done!  And what about a set whereby each card is purple and diamonds, but different numbers and fillings?  What about purples and squiggles?

Playing a game like this teaches students to make connections, look for patterns, persevere...and it's just good fun!
